Paul “Triple H” Levesque gave the coveted finger-point treatment to Logan Paul today in a social media post announcing the social media megastar, and the occasional boxer has renewed his WWE contract.
“Contract renewed @WWE,” Paul wrote on Twitter, along with the photo.
“A proven Superstar on the biggest stage,” Levesque began his response to the announcement, also on Twitter. “Can’t wait to see what’s next for @LoganPaul.”
WWE renewing Paul’s contract does not come as a huge surprise. Both parties have worked well together and helped grow each others’ brands. On night one of WrestleMania 39, for example, Paul put in his latest work between the ropes in a losing effort to Seth “Freaking” Rollins. While the bout delivered on action, which all of Paul’s matches have arguably done up until now, it was the moment where he crashed through a table to the outside while his Prime energy drink partner, KSI, laid on top of it dressed as the company’s mascot.
Moments like that, or the first-person video of him frog-splashing Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel, have generated millions of views across social media. As WWE looks to lower the age of its demo to keep advertisers engaged, these kinds of viral moments become very valuable. Paul’s success has also seemingly opened the door for other stars outside the promotion to come in and succeed at a level they otherwise would not have been able to.
Endeavor’s purchase of WWE seemingly opens the door further for celebrities to crossover into the colorful world of pro wrestling. While it is easy to think of potential UFC stars coming into the squared circle, like Conor McGregor has already teased, Endeavor is also the parent company of the William Morris talent agency, which represents some of the top names in Hollywood, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. After Endeavor purchased the UFC following UFC 200, it became commonplace to see huge names sitting cage-side or entering the octagon to strap titles around fighters’ waists.
