Kevin Patrick began working for WWE in 2021 after stints as a broadcaster for CNN and commentator for Atlanta United on Apple+. He initially served as a backstage correspondent before being promoted to WWE Raw commentator and moved to SmackDown last year in the same role. Journalist Aaron Varble first reported last night that Patrick is set to be removed as a commentator on WWE SmackDown.
“SmackDown set for a change,” he wrote. “Kevin Patrick is out. No replacement named yet. Reason I was given: “It just wasn’t working out.”
The news has been corroborated by both the Wrestling Observer and PWInsider.
Patrick’s removal comes just days before WWE’s big Royal Rumble premium live event this Saturday.
