WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins kicked off WWE Raw tonight by putting over his successful defense against Jinder Mahal. Unfortunately, he described the feeling of his knee “kinda go in not the way it is supposed to” during that defense. When he sat down in the back, it was the first time he realized he might be out for a long time. With that, he noted, he felt he may miss WrestleMania.
Following those fears, he went and had an MRI done and found out he had a grade two tear in his MCL as well as a partially torn medial meniscus as well. Sadly, he broke the news that his doctors are telling him he will be out of action for the next three to four months. He began to say how he was taking things day by day, week by week, before WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER, flanked by IMPERIUM, made his way to the ring.
The Ring General told Rollins to concentrate on him because the two of them have been avoiding each other for awhile now. GUNTHER declared that he wanted to tell Rollins what he thought of him. The Intercontinental Champion praised Rollins for being a workhorse champion that everyone can be proud of, “just like me.” The news of Rollins possibly missing WrestleMania made GUNTHER sad, which prompted the WWE World Heavyweight Champion to shoot back that he would keep his promise and take his title into WrestleMania.
Rollins then vowed to do everything in his power to walk out of WWE WrestleMania 40 as champion, which made GUNTHER happy. GUNTHER said that Rollins reminds him a lot of himself before asserting that he will win the Royal Rumble and challenge him to a match at WrestleMania. GUNTHER says he will target Rollins’ knee, back, and any other weaknesses on his way to becoming champion.
Rollins closed the segment by telling GUNTHER to remember who he is coming after, prompting a similar response from the longest-reigning WWE NXT and Intercontinental UK Champion.
