The last time WWE fans saw Michelle McCool in action was at the 2023 Royal Rumble, where she entered the women’s match at number twenty-five. The two-time WWE Women’s and Divas Champion lasted nearly fourteen minutes before being eliminated by eventual winner Rhea Ripley. With a little over a week away from this year’s Royal Rumble taking place, McCool has taken to social media to respond to a fan asking if she will be in the big match.
“Haven’t been asked,” she replied.
Of course, it is entirely possible that McCool is working the fans and will pop up as a surprise entrant. Last year, she was sitting ringside pretending to just be taking in the action before her music hit, and she jumped the barricade to compete. Her husband, The Undertaker, made a surprise appearance on WWE NXT last year after several teases that he could be appearing.
If McCool does compete, it will be in her fourth WWE Women’s Royal Rumble match. Prior to her appearance in last year’s women’s Rumble, she also competed in the 2022 and 2018 installments. In 2022, she lasted an impressive twenty minutes and fifty seconds before being tossed over the top rope by Knockout’s Champion Mickie James, another surprise entrant. In 2018, in the first-ever women’s Rumble match, she had her shortest in-ring time at just eight minutes and thirty-eight seconds and was eliminated by Natalya.
Bayley, Nia Jax, Becky Lynch, and Bianca Belair are the only names announced so far for this year’s women’s WWE Royal Rumble match. Whoever wins will currently have to choose between challenging WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley or WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY to a match at WrestleMania 40. As of now, neither women’s champion has a contest confirmed for the premium live event.
Tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown will feature a match between WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Katana Chance and Kayden Carter and The Unholy Union’s Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn.
