CJ Perry, formally WWE star Lana, ended her 2024 on a melancholy note. While she was able to escort her charge, Andrade El Idolo, into action at AEW Worlds End against her husband, Miro, the road to the show was rough at best. Perry revealed a few weeks before the pay-per-view that a splinter had lodged itself in her finger backstage at an AEW Dynamite taping. The splinter caused an infection that slowly worsened to the point she had to be hospitalized. After nearly a week in the hospital and several surgeries on her finger, the infection was finally stopped, and she was discharged.
Earlier today, Perry shared the following unfortunate news regarding how things are medically progressing with her infection.
“On my way to the hospital again because complications happen with healing and infection possibly coming back,” she wrote. “I find out soon if I need a second surgery.”
When Perry returns to AEW TV, it will not be alongside El Idolo, who recently confirmed his exit from the promotion. Considering how her angle with El Idolo and Miro played out on AEW Collision, it is likely that when she is healthy and ready to perform, they will resume their storyline on that show. Despite their on-screen drama, Miro was regularly seen alongside Perry’s side in the hospital, bringing her flowers and cookies.
Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite: Homecoming will take place from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, FL. Big names like AEW World Champion Samoa Joe, “Hangman” Adam Page, Sting, and more have already been announced. The Young Bucks are reportedly on-site as well but have not been formally announced, and their presence on the show is not confirmed. For those curious, Mercedes Mone does not appear to be backstage for tonight’s show, and her much-rumored “imminent” AEW debut does not look likely.
Haus of Wrestling sends its best to Perry at this difficult time.
