Cody Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38, and while he has not yet finished his story, he seems to be having the time of his life writing it. Even after he tore his pectoral muscle off the bone, the generational talent seemed to revel in battling Seth “Freaking” Rollins inside Hell In A Cell. These days, Rhodes is trying to keep things light, even as Shinsuke Nakamura breathes down his neck.
Following the holiday-themed episode of WWE Raw the week of Christmas, Rhodes appeared in a post-show segment that was not aired on television, and ordered that one of the fake Christmas trees that was adorning the entrance ramp be brought to the ring. He then proceeded to give it away to a fan and joked with them that he hoped they had an SUV to take it home. A few weeks later, at a WWE live event, he decided to give away a table that was broken in action to a fan, as well.
Last night, Rhodes took his love of his fans to another level. At a WWE live event, the former AEW EVP spotted a “very unique sign” in the crowd that read, “Cody Rhodes, be my best man.” Rhodes then turned to the crowd and asked him what he should say, which received an overwhelmingly positive response. Before immediately accepting the offer, he noted that he had a few questions for the groom-to-be.
“Have you ever been convicted of a felony?” Rhodes posited and was told no. “He’s not a felon!”
Rhodes then wanted to know when the wedding was being held, but it didn’t sound like the couple knew. This prompted Rhodes to request a weekday based on his busy WWE schedule. He was also told that the couple had been together for two years, and he agreed it was time for them to tie the knot, joking that his wife, Brandi, wanted to marry him after just thirty minutes of being together.
The fans began to chant “DO IT” at Rhodes, and he eventually caved, agreeing to be the fan’s best man at his wedding.
“We’ll figure it out,” he concluded.
