Back in May 2022, then-WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Naomi and Sasha Banks walked out during a live broadcast of Monday Night Raw. The two were stripped of their titles, suspended indefinitely, and reprimanded live on-air by Michael Cole. After many months of on-screen absences, the two eventually left the company altogether, with Banks appearing across New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Stardom as Mercedes Mone while Naomi, under her real name Trinity, has become one of the top stars of IMPACT Wrestling.
As the promotion’s rebranding back to its iconic TNA name looms, it appears Trinity will not be continuing with the company for much longer. Fightful report that Trinity is expected to finish up with IMPACT and become a free agent in the very near future. They were unable to confirm if she’ll be ending her time there at the Hard To Kill pay-per-view next week where she’s set to defend her Knockouts World Championship against Jordynne Grace.
In addition, multiple WWE sources told the outlet that they expect Trinity to return to the company, something which IMPACT sources also expect to happen. One WWE source, in particular, is noted as saying that “something huge” would have to happen for her to not end up returning to the company but added that recent times have been “crazy” in terms of free agents becoming available on the market.
Trinity debuted in IMPACT back in April 2022 and less than three months later, she dethroned Deonna Purrazzo to win the Knockouts World Championship at Slammiversary. The former Naomi has held the title ever since, with her reign recently surpassing 170 days at the time of writing, and has successfully defended it against Purrazzo, Alisha Edwards, and Mickie James. Her scheduled defense against Grace at Hard To Kill will be her fifth televised title match since capturing the championship.
