2023 was a bit of a breakout year for Zelina Vega in WWE, despite being with the company, off and on, since early 2017. Shortly before WWE WrestleMania 39, Rey Mysterio aligned himself with the then-Legado Del Fantasma, which Vega was working with. Upon aligning himself with the faction, the WWE Hall of Fame inductee redubbed the group the Latino World Order, resurrecting the former NWO stable. After WrestleMania, she was given an even bigger honor, a shot at WWE SmackDown Women Champion Rhea Ripley. On top of that, the opportunity took place in Puerto Rico, taking on added significance.
PWInsider reports that Vega has signed a new multi-year deal with WWE. No other details were given.
Vega joins the ranks of other notable WWE stars to find new deals in the new TKO Group Holdings era. Fellow LWO stablemate Rey Mysterio recently re-signed with the company, and Haus of Wrestling exclusively reported it was for three years. Rey’s son, Dominik, has also reportedly re-signed but for what is believed to be a slightly longer timeframe, five years.
“The Queen” Charlotte Flair is also said to have re-upped with the sports entertainment juggernaut and is believed to be getting a substantial pay raise. On top of the padded check she’ll be getting the next few years, it sounds as if she will also be getting a tour bus provided to her. That amenity is becoming more common for top stars, as they find it easier to travel across the country in comfort by bus, as opposed to shuffling in and out of airports.
Speaking of tour buses, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes is either in the midst of closing on a new WWE deal or has already signed one, depending on who you ask. Regardless, it appears that WWE is anxious to get the big-time merch mover under a long-term deal so they can keep the gravy train rolling. At the moment, Rhodes is embroiled in a feud with Shinsuke Nakamura. However, on the other side of that program will be the Royal Rumble and a possible road to WrestleMania where Rhodes can try to, once again, finish his story.
