AEW World Champion MJF serves as an executive producer on the upcoming film “The Iron Claw” and also briefly appears in the film as Lance Von Erich. It’s Friedman’s first big foray into Hollywood, and the young star is taking full advantage of the moment. At the Los Angeles premiere, the brash young star could be seen taking photos with Baron Corbin, Liv Morgan, and other big names, but it was an encounter with John Cena that caught the most attention.
In a video shared on social media, the two men can be seen conversing on the red carpet, but you cannot hear what they are saying. At his induction into the National Jewish Sports Hall Of Fame, MJF was asked by SEScoops about the memorable moment he had with the eventual WWE Hall of Fame inductee.
“The conversation meant the world to me,” he said. “I don’t think it’s unprofessional for me to discuss what we talked about, you know? He didn’t have to do this, and it meant the world to me. He walked over to me, and he said he was a fan of my work and he respected my professionalism. Once we were on the red carpet, we talked some more, and I told him straight up, I said, you’re an inspiration because he is.
“There are a lot of people in my industry who phone it in. I cannot recall one time in the over a decade of John Cena’s career where he found it and even once because he’s incapable, just like I’m incapable. He is a tremendous role model, not just for me as a professional wrestler, but for everybody around the world because he teaches you how important hard work is.
“I mean, for crying out loud, my two guys, I’ll make no bones about it, everybody knows one of my guys was CM Punk, but my other guy was John. As I got older, it became Punk because I was starting to rebel a little bit, but I had John Cena as a Fat Head on my bedroom wall. It’s John Cena. We talked about on the red carpet about that, and he just, we also discussed transitioning from wrestling to acting, and he’s just an incredible person, and I don’t have one negative thing to say about him.”
