Last night, CM Punk returned to WWE SmackDown for the first time in nearly a decade. Armed with a microphone, Punk delivered an energized and buzzy promo that many feel was better than his initial return promo on Raw. He is scheduled to return to the red brand this Monday night and will be offered a contract to join its roster, but it looks like he may have one more WWE appearance before then.
On his Instagram Stories, Punk shared a photo of himself in front of the giant WWE Championship outside the new company headquarters.
“Missed my flight today,” he wrote in a caption on the image. “Woke up in Bridgeport. Anything to do here?”
Bridgeport is the location of tonight’s WWE NXT Deadline premium live event. Earlier this week, on the Deadline media call, I asked Shawn Michaels about Punk’s return to WWE and if there were a chance we’d see him in NXT. Michaels said Punk’s return to the fold was “not a tough decision” for anyone in the company, leaving the door open for The Second City Savior to appear in NXT.
Haus of Wrestling is actively working to confirm if Punk will be a part of tonight’s show, and if so, in what capacity.
