CM Punk threw the pro wrestling world for a loop when he chose to sign with All Elite Wrestling in 2021. His first appearance for the promotion was filled with pomp and circumstance and an overall feeling of joy from fans who had not seen him in a wrestling ring for eight years.
While his run started off well, things quickly took a turn. Rumors began to swirl that Punk was using his clout to punish former friend Colt Cabana. Some reports suggested that Punk tried to have Cabana fired or moved to the ROH brand, which Punk has denied. Nearly every month following those reports saw increased tension backstage, with everything spilling into the open at the All Out 2022 media scrum.
On the SI Media Podcast, the host dryly joked that he didn’t want to see Rollins getting any negative headlines.
“It’s never gonna get to that point,” he clarified. “I mean, look, if anything goes south the way it did anywhere else, it’s not ever going to get to that point. We, this locker room is, we’re a bunch of professionals, for the most part, over here. We’re a bunch of professionals. I don’t want to go too far into anything else, but it’s just not going to happen over here. There’s going to be a line drawn in the sand. Everything’s going to be a-okay in WWE-land; I’m feeling very good about that.”
Punk will appear on tomorrow night’s episode of WWE Raw, where he is expected to accept Adam Pearce’s offer to sign with the Monday brand. Once he is signed, all signs point toward Punk and Rollins jumpstarting a feud that could see them main event the Royal Rumble or one night of WrestleMania 40. Beyond that feud, Punk is reportedly slated to feud with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
