Last week, Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti gave birth to their first child, Luna. It was a happy occasion for the couple that was dealt a setback in the waning months of Conti’s pregnancy, as Guevara suffered a concussion at AEW WrestleDream. He has been off AEW TV ever since.
The new parents released a vlog on Guevara’s YouTube channel this afternoon, their first since the birth of Luna.
“It’s been a minute since we’ve been on here,” Guevara said. “I’m doing good. I’m cleared.”
Following the excellent news that he is cleared to compete again, he added, “If it was gonna happen, it kind of happened at the best time.”
Conti quickly added that there is never a good time to get a concussion, but it has been nice having him around the house to help. They also revealed that Luna weighs 8.4 ounces, which made them laugh because they know that is big for a baby. Mom, Dad, and baby are happy and healthy.
At AEW WrestleDream, Guevara, Konosuke Takeshita, and Will Ospreay, along with Don Callis, were successful in defeating Kota Ibushi, Kenny Omega, and Chris Jericho. In the build to the six-man, Guevara and Jericho had been involved in a brief feud that saw them wrestle at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam a few weeks prior. Jericho was able to pick up the victory over his long-time protege, but after the bell rang, Guevara leveled Jericho with a low blow, ending their alliance.
It will be interesting to see if Guevara returns to AEW TV as a babyface or heel. One big angle that some have speculated he may be involved in is the AEW Devils storyline involving MJF. Recently, Guevara, Jack Perry, and Dr. Britt Baker DMD, “liked” an X post critical of MJF. It was an interesting move, considering how unlike AEW talent it is to do something like that, and some fans wondered if it may be a tease for them to return to AEW in an anti-MJF way.
