WWE Home Video UK has issued the following statement on X regarding the future of their relationship with the sports entertainment juggernaut.
“With great sadness we must announce that WWE have taken the decision to withdraw from the Home Video category. No licensing deals will be renewed worldwide after 2023,” the began. “This means the very last WWE Home Video release from Fremantle will be CROWN JEWEL 2023 (2-Disc DVD) on 18 December (UK) and 22nd December (GER).
“WWE Home Video have been releasing VHS, DVD, Blu-ray for 36 years, the last 11 years through Fremantle in Europe, but this will come to an end on 31st December 2023 with no further WWE DVD or Blu-ray stock manufactured. Everyone at WWE Home Video UK would like to thank all our collectors and fans for many years of support and passion.”
Haus of Wrestling reached out to WWE regarding the decision and if this means no future WWE DVDs, VHS tapes, or Blu-rays will be released in general or just in the UK. We were told this is the end of those items coming out of the UK but were not given clarity on the overall future of WWE DVDs, VHS tapes, or Blu-rays. Wrestling DVD Network is reporting that WWE Home Video will be done at the end of the year, and there will not be any new releases starting in 2024. The last scheduled DVD release in the United States will be this year’s Survivor Series on December 26.
