Following an eventful weekend, with the returns of both Randy Orton and CM Punk at WWE Survivor Series WarGames, the company has made another wave with the debut of a new theme song for WWE Raw. The show kicked off its commercial-free first hour with a short recap of Saturday’s PLE before the new theme fittingly began what feels like a new era in WWE. According to a previous report from Fightful Select, the new song comes from Def Rebel, who has provided music for Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, and LA Knight, along with the WWE SmackDown theme.
The theme replaces the song Greatness by Vo Williams, which had been in use since 2021. Like Greatness, the new theme is a fast-paced hip-hop track meant to start the show on an upbeat note. The still-untitled track becomes the 18th separate theme song for Raw, with the lineage stretching all the way back to Jim Johnston’s theme used through the mid-1990s. In recent years, the company has started switching out themes more frequently, with eight different themes used since the start of 2018.
WWE has undergone many changes over the last few months, with Vince McMahon reportedly having been removed from the creative process in September, shortly after the company closed its merger with UFC. The return of Punk marks a major shift in thinking from the previous leadership, and the company seems poised to continue the hot streak it’s been on in terms of viewership and live event attendance.
