We’re less than 24 hours away from WWE Survivor Series where it’s been speculated for months that if CM Punk was to make his WWE return, that would be the time and place. The Premium Live Event emanates from Punk’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois and is already set to host the return of Randy Orton who makes his comeback from injury to compete for the first time in over 18 months.
At the time of writing, it’s highly unlikely that the two-time AEW World Champion will make his first WWE appearance in almost a decade at the show. Per previous reports, there are currently no plans for Punk to make his return to the company though WWE’s stance on the matter could change if there was a significant vocal response from fans regarding Punk. In an interesting recent development, a remastered version of Punk’s long-time entrance theme Cult of Personality was released by Living Color less than 48 hours before Survivor Series.
Earlier this week, Johnny Gargano spoke to the Battleground Podcast about the upcoming Premium Live Event, his #DIY reunion with Tommaso Ciampa, the new United States Champion Logan Paul, and even the possibility of Punk returning to WWE. The former NXT Champion was asked what Punk’s WWE return would mean for the company as a whole and for his thoughts on the situation.
“I mean, there’s so many eyes currently on WWE television. Obviously, every little bit helps,” Gargano replied. “I mentioned earlier how Logan Paul is taking the United States Championship all over the world with him and getting new eyes on the products. I feel like, at the end of the day, whatever is going to get more eyes on WWE television, that’s the best move possible. Whoever that may be, wherever they bring in. Whatever eyes they bring in, I’m all for it.”
