WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY is set to step inside WarGames alongside her fellow Damage CTRL stablemates Bayley, Asuka, and Kairi Sane to take on Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, Shotzi, and Becky Lynch. A few days ago, SKY pointed out on social media that her participation in the match will continue her streak of having competed in every Women’s WarGames match in WWE history, but that isn’t the only achievement she’ll obtain at the Premium Live Event.
As first noted by Inside The Ropes, SKY competes in her fifth WarGames match this Saturday and in doing so, she will have wrestled in the most WWE WarGames matches of anyone in history. For the past year, this record has been tied between seven separate stars who have each competed in four WarGames matches across NXT and the main roster.
SKY, Dakota Kai, and Butch are the only three talents holding the record who are still with WWE. The remaining record-holders are the four former members of The Undisputed ERA (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish, and Roderick Strong) who have since all departed the company, with most of them now signed to AEW.
As neither Kai nor Butch will be competing in WarGames this year, IYO will officially secure the record at Survivor Series and make WWE history in the process. Despite not wrestling in the match itself due to her ongoing injury, Kai will still have a presence at WarGames as she’s set to accompany Damage CTRL at the Premium Live Event.
In the Men’s WarGames match, meanwhile, Randy Orton was confirmed to be the fifth member of Cody Rhodes’ team in what will be his first WWE match since May 2022. The Viper will team with Rhodes, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, and Seth Rollins to take on Drew McIntyre and The Judgement Day’s Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh inside the ominous structure.
