Jade Cargill looks to become one of WWE’s biggest signings in recent years, having made cameo appearances on Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and even the pre-show of WWE Fastlane last month. Lately, however, the record-breaking former AEW TBS Champion has disappeared from programming with Cargill herself making light of her absence earlier this month on X, claiming, “Whyyyy wrestle when my BIG check clears every week baby.”
Despite her on-screen absence, Cargill continues to train at the WWE Performance Center and now a new report has provided some backstage details on the specifics of her training. WrestlePurists reports that their sources have remained quiet on Cargill’s in-ring progress as well as an estimation of when she could make her long-awaited WWE debut. However, the outlet did learn that a former NXT Women’s Champion is amongst several people who are helping to train the 31-year-old.
The former champion in question is Roxanne Perez who, despite being just 22 years old, is said to have experience well beyond her years on top of solid fundamentals, making her an excellent training partner for Cargill. Perez has been with WWE for less than two years and is already one of NXT’s biggest female prospects, having already captured both the NXT Women’s Tag titles and NXT Women’s title in her short time on the black and gold brand.
Prior to joining WWE, Perez (then known as Rok-C) found success in Ring of Honor throughout 2021 where she most notably became the inaugural ROH Women’s World Champion at just 19 years old. Rok-C went on to defend the title against the likes of Willow Nightingale, Killer Kelly, and Trish Adora before losing the belt in IMPACT Wrestling to then-AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Deonna Purrazzo who also put her belt on the line. Three months later, Rok-C made her WWE debut on NXT Level Up as Roxanne Perez.
