After 42 days, “Hangman” Adam Page and the Young Bucks lost the Ring of Honor World Six Man Tag Team Championships to the same team they initially beat – Brian Cage, Toa Liona, and Kaun of the Mogul Embassy. The new champions were able to win with the help of Swerve Strickland, whom Page has been locked in a heated feud with over the last month. Strickland showed up a few minutes into the match, taunting Page and drawing him into a chase that led away from his partners and into the back. With the Young Bucks left outnumbered, it didn’t take long for the Mogul Embassy to pin Nick Jackson for the win.
Following the match, Matt Jackson let out his frustration, grabbing a steel chair and swinging at the ring posts. It wasn’t clear if the tag team’s anger was directed at Page for leaving them or merely at the situation. However, Matt Jackson did appear later in the show to confront Kenny Omega backstage, questioning Omega’s recent partnership with Chris Jericho. Page’s blind rage toward Strickland was somewhat understandable, as last week’s show featured Strickland showing up at Page’s home, and the former AEW Champion has presumably not had a chance to get his hands on Strickland until tonight.
The relatively brief title reign saw The Elite successfully defend the titles just once, on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. None of the three appeared on Ring of Honor’s weekly streaming show during the reign. With AEW Full Gear taking place later this month in the Young Buck’s backyard – southern California – one would expect a major match announced for the team. Though it hasn’t been mentioned on AEW programming in several weeks, the team did win an opportunity at the AEW World Tag Team Championship at a time of their choosing. Those titles are currently held by Ricky Starks and Big Bill, who have been appearing primarily on AEW Collision in recent weeks.
