Ahead of WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite’s head-to-head clash earlier this week, Tony Khan didn’t hold back with social media shots on WWE and its top executives. On Tuesday, the AEW President hit out at Vince McMahon over the various allegations of sexual misconduct and hush money payments that emerged last year and later went after NXT head honcho Shawn Michaels, criticizing his booking of the black and gold brand’s show this week.
Two days on from the ‘Tuesday Night War’, Khan has continued to stay on the offensive via his X account, taking another shot at the TKO Group Holdings’ Executive Chairman. Responding to a fan who claimed that Vince “has the power and influence to take them cheap shots” whilst Khan does not, Khan once again referenced the allegations levied at McMahon: “Yes. Vince has allegedly used his power and influence to shoot a lot of shots,” Khan replied.
Yesterday, it was reported that WWE NXT had defeated AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday in their head-to-head clash. NXT came out on top of total viewership with a lead of 312,000, drawing an average of 921,000 viewers versus Dynamite’s 609,000. However, the 18-49 demographic viewership was a much closer contest with NXT only pulling ahead by 50,000 viewers, drawing 396,000 viewers in the key demo versus 346,000 who watched Dynamite.
Wrestlenomics gave more insight with their quarter-hour report which revealed that AEW only defeated NXT in the key demographic during one quarter-hour which featured Chris Jericho vs Powerhouse Hobbs, a Kingdom vignette, and the start of Rey Fenix vs. Orange Cassidy. During that same quarter-hour, Gallus vs. Tyler Bate and The Brawling Brutes was being featured on NXT. It was also revealed that NXT had more total viewership than AEW in every quarter hour.
