This past week, WWE announced that they have landed one of the hottest pro wrestling free agents on the market, former TBS Champion Jade Cargill. She was the second big star to jump from AEW to WWE, following in the footsteps of Cody Rhodes, but was the first homegrown All Elite star. Her arrival has been met with excitement from fans, praise from former colleagues, and “warnings” from current female WWE stars. It has also opened up opportunities for Cargill, particularly in the creative department, which is one of the reasons she has said she decided to make the leap.
In an interview with 100.7 The Bay, Bobby Lashley reacted to the news that Cargill is headed for WWE TV.
“I think it’s a big signing for WWE because she made a huge splash, and wrestling is back with AEW. And I think just her coming over it just shows the level. It shows she wanted to get there; that was the next level for her, which is a great deal. And for her coming over. I mean, there’s only a few places that I would put her.
“I know there’s a group that is kind of putting themselves together right now, and if that group had a female component to it, I think that group would be even stronger. And, so, I might have to give her a call and see what her plans are, but I think she does fit really well with our group if that was an opportunity, but wherever she goes, I know she’s going to be a big store like he’s always been.”
