Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge, shocked the wrestling world this past weekend when he debuted in AEW in the closing moments of the promotion’s WrestleDream pay-per-view. The WWE Hall of Famer confronted his best friend both on and off-screen Christian Cage and saved Sting from a conchairto, seemingly allying himself with The Icon and Darby Allin in the process. During the post-show media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan announced Copeland had signed a full-time contract with the promotion.
In a move that was arguably more surprising than even Copeland’s appearance itself, the 49-year-old made his entrance using Alter Bridge’s Metalingus as his entrance theme. Copeland has used Metalingus as his entrance theme in WWE for almost two decades, only abandoning the song for a few months in early 2022 for another Alter Bridge track, The Other Side, during his short-lived run as leader of The Judgement Day.
What’s more, the iconic “You think you know me” voice line that acts as a prelude to Metalingus also made the jump from WWE to AEW with Copeland. The line has undergone slight changes as part of the transition, now stating “you think you know him” instead and being spoken by a different female voice. A new report has now revealed that a very recognizable name to wrestling fans is the new voice behind the timeless line.
Bleacher Report’s Chris Mueller spoke to Copeland following his AEW WrestleDream appearance and during their conversation, the former Edge revealed the woman who now voices the prelude is, in fact, his wife Beth Phoenix. A WWE Hall of Famer in her own right, Phoenix teamed with her husband several times in WWE over the last few years and now, in a small way, has joined him in his move to become All Elite!
