“The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns may be taking a well-deserved vacation following his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match at WrestleMania 39.
According to a new report from WrestleVotes, courtesy of GiveMeSport, whenever Roman Reigns loses his titles, potentially at WrestleMania 39, he will then take a “significant break” from the promotion. It was also noted that the break could take Reigns away from WWE until SummerSlam in August.
The former “Big Dog” turned “Head Of The Table” has served as WWE’s top draw ever since he captured the WWE Universal Championship at Payback 2020 with a win over then-champion, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, and Braun Strowman in a No Holds Barred Triple Threat match. Shortly thereafter, Reigns found himself embroiled in an extremely personal feud with his cousin Jey Uso that ultimately led to Jey bending the knee and pledging his allegiance to Reigns.
That pledge of allegiance, along with Reigns’ new advocate and shot-caller, Paul Heyman, set the foundation for what would become The Bloodline. The generational faction has seen itself in WWE’s main event ever since and will be center stage once again at WrestleMania 39. Reigns will be defending his titles against Cody Rhodes and The Usos will attempt to retain their tag titles against the fan-favorite duo, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
If this new report is to be believed, it indicates that Reigns’ time on top in WWE could be coming to an end, at least for the moment. With Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson nowhere to be seen, it is hard to think of anyone more deserving of taking the titles off Reigns than Cody Rhodes. The story between the two has been compelling and a huge win at Mania would quickly solidify Rhodes as the new face of WWE. To that end, John Cena went out of his way to put Rhodes over on Raw recently, something many observers took as a passing of the torch moment.
