Luke Gallows hasn’t appeared on WWE programming in over a month, and it seems as though it’s for good reason. Fightful Select has reported that Gallows had to get a knee scope, keeping him on the shelf for at least six weeks. It’s unclear at what point that six-week timetable began, making it possible for Gallows to show up at some point starting around the middle of October.
The last time Gallows stepped in the ring was at an August 20 WWE live event in Quebec, Canada. Just two days prior to that, Gallows tagged with Karl Anderson in a losing effort to The Street Profits on WWE SmackDown. Gallows and Anderson’s current WWE run began late last year when they made a surprise appearance to defend longtime ally AJ Styles, reforming The OC. Gallows is currently in the midst of his third stint with WWE, having performed in the company from 2006 to 2010, and again from 2016 to 2020.
A knee scope, or knee arthroscopy, is a relatively minor surgical procedure that involves a surgeon carefully inserting a small tool, which features a camera, into the knee via an incision. This common surgery can be used to diagnose issues, or even as a treatment itself. The tool can be used to clear out cartilage and other blockages inside the knee – a very common problem for professional wrestlers, especially as they age.
This current run has seen Michin (AKA Mia Yim) join the group, with Gallows and Anderson teaming up to face opponents such as Alpha Academy, The Viking Raiders, The Judgment Day, and more. With more than 20 years in the ring, 39-year-old Gallows is a two-time tag team champion in WWE, was a key figure in the Bullet Club over in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and spent time in both Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor.
