This past week, WWE released around thirty talents from its roster, including names like Mustafa Ali, Dolph Ziggler, and Shelton Benjamin. While always a somber occasion, many wrestlers successfully parlay their exits from WWE into success elsewhere. A great example of this is Sami Callihan, who was released by the WWE in 2015. In the following years, Callihan became a staple in Lucha Underground and MLW before ultimately settling into a main event role at Impact Wrestling, where he signed in 2017.
Now, it appears as if Callihan is set to make his next big move, as he made it official on social media that he will be leaving Impact soon.
“9.30.23,” he writes. “[FREE AGENT]”
During his time with Impact Wrestling, Callihan captured the Impact World Championship on one occasion, holding onto it for seventy-nine days. He is also a former Lucha Underground Trios Champion.
It is worth noting that Callihan is good friends with top AEW star and fellow Ohioan Jon Moxley, who has appeared at several of his The Wrestling Revolver shows. When tagging together, Callihan and Moxley are known as The Switchblades.
