AEW Dynamite Grand Slam was held last night live on TBS from Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, NY. The main event saw hometown favorite MJF successfully defend his AEW World Championship against ROH Television Champion Samoa Joe. The show also included another hometown favorite, Eddie Kingston, defeating long-time nemesis Claudio Castagnoli for the ROH World Championship. It was a big night for the quickly growing young promotion, boasting bigger-than-average viewership numbers.
SportsTVRatings reports that AEW Dynamite Grand Slam drew an average of 984,000 viewers, with a .36 rating in the P18 – 49 demo. For comparison, last week’s episode of Dynamite drew an average of 888,000 viewers, with a .31 rating. AEW Dynamite Grand Slam was the most-viewed sports cable original yesterday and could wind up being the overall most-watched cable original when final viewership comes out shortly.
Wrestlenomics reports that this was AEW’s highest P18 – 49 viewership since September 14, 2022, and the highest overall viewership since the February 22, 2023 episode. The four-minute overrun drew the highest viewership, with 1,048,000 overall viewers. Roughly 513,000 of those were in the key P18 – 49 demo. The second, fourth, and eighth quarter-hours were all able to retain more than a million viewers, as well.
