This week’s episode of WWE NXT had a loaded main event as “The Man” Becky Lynch, returned to her old stomping grounds to take on WWE NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton. In the end, Lynch got the job done and captured NXT’s top female prize, but she was also able to get the job done in the viewership department. This past Tuesday night’s episode drew an average of 850,000 viewers, with about 335,000 of those in the coveted P18 – 49 demo, its most-watched installment in nearly three years. With as loaded as the episode was and how well it delivered, many fans wondered if AEW Dynamite would beat them out in viewership last night.
SportsTVRatings reports that last night’s AEW Dynamite drew an average of 888,000 viewers, with a .31 rating in the P18 – 49 demo, or about 402,000 viewers. Dynamite barely edged out NXT in overall viewership, but it seems to have solidly beaten WWE’s yellow and black brand in the demo most attractive to advertisers. By comparison, last week’s Dynamite drew 887,000 overall viewers, with about 409,000 of those in the P18 – 49 demo.
Wrestlenomics reports that Dynamite was the number one show on cable television for Wednesday, beating out Pardon The Interruption on ESPN and Real Housewives on Bravo. Their reporting also notes that the second quarter hour saw the highest P18 – 49 viewership, with roughly 429,000 viewers. The quarter featured the post-match angle from the opening match, a Roderick Strong promo, Don Callis and Konosuke Takeshita’s in-ring segment, and a promo from BCC.
The fifth quarter hour saw the most overall viewers, with about 935,000 viewers. That quarter featured Adam Page versus Brian Cage.
