WWE Superstar Spectacle is in full swing in Hyderabad, India, and the event is already making headlines. Earlier in the show, WWE Hall of Fame inductee The Great Khali made a surprise appearance and let the fans know that he has one more match left in him. More big names will be taking part in today’s show, including John Cena, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freaking” Rollins, WWE World Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and more. One big name who was not advertised for the card and isn’t even with the company, whose presence is being felt on the show, is CM Punk.
During a match between Zoey Stark and Natalya, the fans in attendance broke out in a loud CM Punk chant. Whether or not this is a trend that will continue at other upcoming WWE shows is yet to be seen. It is worth noting that neither woman seemed phased by the chant or acknowledged it, at least based on the video making the rounds.
Punk was, of course, terminated by All Elite Wrestling this past weekend following an internal investigation into a backstage altercation at AEW: All In London between The Second City Savior and Jack Perry. After consulting with various lawyers and top members of the AEW roster, Khan decided to terminate Punk and indefinitely suspend Perry. During the post-All Out media scrum on Sunday, Khan was asked by Wrestlenomics whether Punk’s release came with a non-compete clause, and he declined to clarify. If there is no non-compete clause in place, it is possible Punk will pop up in WWE or elsewhere at any moment.
