AEW All In London isn’t even officially underway yet, but the show is already making headlines with its pre-show Zero Hour event. Moments ago, MJF and Adam Cole captured the AEW World Tag Team Championships with a win over Aussie Open, setting the stage for their AEW World Championship match later on tonight. Without the paint even dry on that big moment, AEW decided to keep things buzzing by showing Mercedes Mone on-screen, taking in the action.
Renee Paquette and Kip Sabian are handling pre-show commentary duties for the evening, and it was Paquette who let fans know that Mone was in the building. The camera then cut to the crowd where Mone was shown sitting among the fans, flashing a smile and making it clear she was enjoying herself. For anyone who felt this may have been a coincidence, AEW then flashed an official graphic on-screen with her name, making it clear this was not just happenstance.
Mone is currently recovering from an injury she suffered earlier this year in a match against Willow Nightingale for the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. Due to the injury, the finish of the match was changed on the fly, resulting in Nightingale picking up the biggest victory of her career. There has not been much in the way of injury updates, but it was noted back in July that she was still moving around on crutches.
The AEW women will only present one match on today’s big card, and it will feature Hikaru Shida putting her AEW Women’s World Championship on the line against Dr. Britt Baker DMD, Saraya, and Tony Storm. Due to her injury, it does not seem likely that Mone will get involved in the action, but anything is possible.
