Over the past few months, Braun Strowman and Ricochet have formed an unlikely bond after The Monster Among Men seemed to mock high-flying grapplers on social media. With the two men working side-by-side, fans have been treated to a tag team that features both strongman-like power and Cirque du Soleil-esque athleticism. Their run as a unit arguably peaked at WWE WrestleMania 39 when they competed in the Men’s Showcase Match, losing to The Street Profits.
Now, It looks like Strowman’s in-ring and outside-the-ring train-like momentum may have come to a screeching halt for as PWInsider.com reports that the big man is out of action with an undisclosed injury, and “has been taken off the board” in regard to creative plans. While the nature of the injury is not known at this time, one source said that it may require surgery.
The report also noted that Strowman suffered a concussion in late April, and was later cleared to return to action a week later. He had two matches following his return, with the most recent taking place on the May 1 WWE Draft edition of Raw, defeating Alpha Academy, alongside Ricochet. While Strowman has dealt with his injury, Ricochet has continued on as a singles star and qualified for the Money In The Bank ladder match on Raw when he defeated The Miz. The win could be looked at as a sign that WWE does not plan to pair him again with Strowman in the near future.
Shinsuke Nakamura also qualified for this year’s men’s Money In The Bank match last night on Raw when he defeated Bronson Reed in somewhat of an upset. Reed has been on his own monstrous path of destruction as of late and picked up a victory over Ricochet last week on Raw. Qualifying matches will continue this Friday on Smackdown when LA Knight takes on The Street Profits’ Montez Ford.
