Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has stood atop the Superstar hierarchy for nearly three years, and along with that long reign has come the ability to pick and choose when he wants to wrestle. Notably, Reigns took WWE’s post-WrestleMania PLE, Backlash, off this year and sent his cousins, The Usos, to represent The Bloodline.
Despite his absence in Puerto Rico, The Tribal Chief has been confirmed for WWE Night of Champions next weekend in Saudi Arabia. Reigns, along with Solo Sikoa, will battle Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships. The match is historic for a few reasons, including it being the Saudi Arabia debut for Sami Zayn who, up until recently, has not been able to compete in the country due to his Syrian heritage. The match will also take place on the 1000th day of Reigns’ unprecedented title run.
On the horizon beyond Night of Champions, is Money In The Bank on July 1 from London, England. Until now, Reigns’ status for the event has been questionable as he has gone unadvertised. All of that changed overnight, as WWE released a graphic prominently featuring The Big Dog as one of the advertised talents for the show.
Conspicuously absent from the new graphic is former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, who had previously been advertised for the event. Following his brutal Intercontinental Championship Triple Threat match at WrestleMania 39, which he lost to GUNTHER, the Scottish star has not been seen on WWE TV. Rumors have swirled that McIntyre may be looking to leave the promotion, or that he has re-signed and is just not being used. In regard to the latter, PW Torch’s Wade Keller is reporting that McIntyre is still signed with the company.
“Not true,” Keller tweeted. “He has not re-signed with WWE.”
