Trinity returned triumphantly to pro wrestling this past weekend at Impact Wrestling’s Chicago tapings, and the former WWE Women’s Champion did not come alone. Backstage at the tapings cheering her on were two other big-name pro wrestling stars that also notably walked out on WWE, Mercedes Mone, and CM Punk.
Punk walked out on WWE following the 2014 Royal Rumble. At the time his absence from the promotion was described as a sabbatical but later in the year he infamously took to Colt Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast and vented his frustrations about his time working for Vince McMahon’s promotion. Punk’s comments about the medical treatment he received from WWE ringside doctor, Dr. Chris Amann, resulted in a trial that was ultimately won by he and then-friend Cabana. To the surprise of many, Punk popped up backstage at Raw last week, in part, it sounds like, to bury the hatchet with Paul “Triple H” Levesque.
Mone was right by Trinity’s side when the two walked out on WWE before the May 16, 2022 episode of Raw. Reportedly, they left their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on the desk of then-Head of Talent Relations John Laurinitis before making their exit.
Until now, both women have remained tight-lipped about what happened that night and why they walked out. On today’s episode of Busted Open Radio, Trinity explained that the reason she left that day boiled down to the way she was “talked to and handled.” She conceded that there was a lot going on with her at the time and the events of the day simply broke her.
Sadly, she said that all of the negativity led to her feeling the lowest she had ever felt in her life. Despite that, having gone through that difficulty, she feels it has ultimately made her stronger, and now she looks forward to finding herself all over again.,
