Great news to start the month of May! Former MLW star Richard Holliday is officially in remission following his battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer.
“I’m in remission!” Holliday shared with his fans on social media earlier this morning.
The news comes on the heels of Holliday’s surprise return to in-ring action at Beyond Wrestling last night. Holliday came to the ring to a hero’s welcome before teasing an alignment with the heels in the ring. As he stood with a chair in his hand, looking to lay out the downed babyface in the middle of the ring, he took a breath before turning on the dastardly group, laying out one of them with a few chair shots.
Following Holliday’s in-ring return to action, he took the microphone and confirmed that he was in remission. Something that was not caught in the videos shared on social media but confirmed by Beyond Wrestling’s own Twitter account.
Holliday had been battling cancer since last September and has remained coy about an in-ring return. It was confirmed last month by Court Bauer that Holliday’s MLW contract expired while he was in treatment so, now that he has returned to the ring, he’ll have the chance to choose his own destiny in regard to what promotion he signs with next. With that said, It would seem current AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF would have interest in Tony Khan picking up the free agent.
“Holiday is far more talented than everyone currently in free agency,” Friedman shared on Twitter recently. “It’s all about how talent is presented.”
It’s hard to argue that Holliday wouldn’t fit right in with MJF and his new best friend Sammy Guevara. Could AEW fans be on the cusp seeing a The Dynasty 2.0-type situation? Time will tell.
