Just over a month after her return at NXT Deadline following a four-month absence, Cora Jade has suffered a huge setback. This past weekend, Jade challenged NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria in the main event of a non-televised live event but appeared to suffer an injury according to fans in attendance. It was later reported by Dave Meltzer that Jade had suffered a torn ACL which has since been confirmed by WWE directly.
Prior to the NXT Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s Battle Royal that headlined last night’s edition of WWE NXT, Vic Joseph announced that Jade had torn her ACL at the live event and provided an update on how long she’s expected to be out of action for.
“There you see the field for this main event battle royal but there’s one superstar that is missing: That would be Cora Jade,” Joseph said. “That’s because this past weekend, [at a] sold-out NXT live event in Dade City, Cora Jade was injured at the live event, suffering a torn ACL. Doctors are saying she’ll be out of action for close to a year.”
Joseph went on to note that Jade had been replaced in the match by Wren Sinclair, the former Madi Wrenkowski who recently signed with WWE after taking part in a tryout last September. Interestingly, Joseph stated that Sinclair defeated Jade at the live event and subsequently took her spot in the battle royal as a result, despite last night’s match actually being Sinclair’s NXT in-ring debut.
However, this isn’t Sinclair’s first NXT appearance since signing with WWE. The former NWA World Women’s Tag Team Champion made her on-screen debut in a video posted by NXT Anonymous on X earlier this month where she portrayed a Chase U student alongside Thea Hail, Jacy Jayne, and a few other women.
