Later tonight, All Elite Wrestling will present a special Homecoming edition of AEW Dynamite, held at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, FL, where they performed throughout the pandemic. The show will feature The Callis Family’s Powerhouse Hobbs and Konosuke Takeshita versus Sting and Darby Allin, with Ric Flair, along with Claudio Castagnoli versus “Hangman” Adam Page, among other announced matches. Heading into the show, there have been rumors running rampant that Mercedes Mone may finally be making her much-anticipated debut with the company.
Fightful reports that they have not heard anything to indicate Mone is backstage for tonight’s Dynamite, but her appearance had been previously discussed internally. While Mone may not be in the house, they confirmed that The Young Bucks are at Daily’s Place. The Bucks are not alone, as several other people who have not been around the promotion recently but wanted to be on-site for tonight’s big show are.
Already announced for the show is the new AEW World Champion, Samoa Joe. No details regarding what he will be doing have been revealed. Fightful says there have been discussions about debuting the AEW World Championship, which includes several cosmetic changes, like added side plates.
It was also noted that Tony Khan’s posts about Jinder Mahal, HOOK, WWE Raw, and tonight’s Dynamite were not being as heavily discussed backstage as they were last night on social media. For those that missed it, Khan responded to a social media post from the USA Network joking about the Cagematch rating for a previous match between Seth Rollins and Jinder Mahal. In Khan’s response, he derided Mahal as the number one contender to Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship due to his lack of matches over the last year and how The Modern Day Maharaja had not earned it. Mahal himself weighed in on the situation, but he has since deleted his post.
