This past Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite ended with a major twist in the ongoing storyline regarding a mysterious “The Devil” figure tormenting MJF. Samoa Joe, who had for weeks teased he was going to protect Friedman ahead of their match at Worlds End, dramatically leveled the young star with a chair after seemingly revealing he has been in cahoots with The Devil. The following day, on a media call, Tony Khan said he was expecting big revelations in the story to happen this Saturday night but gave no further insight. On the latest episode of The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy, the multi-time tag team champion gave his thoughts on who could be behind AEW’s The Devil angle.
“Apparently, a lot of people thought Joe was The Devil. Is that why Tony cleared that up? He just did a media call, am I correct?” he asked his co-host, who told him he was correct. “It’s gonna be interesting. I wonder who the two masked men were that actually won the tag titles, you know? From MJF, the Ring Of Honor World Tag Team titles. So, I’m very curious who that’s going to be.
“For some reason, I have a sneaking suspicion it could be The Kingdom. But who knows? I don’t know anything. I don’t know any more than you, and I haven’t even tried to press to know more. But I’m very curious of what the ultimate payoff and the big reveal is going to be this Saturday at Worlds End.”
Hardy and his brother, Jeff, are not currently advertised for the AEW Worlds End card or its Zero Hour pre-show. Their last tag team match took place two weeks ago on the Holiday Bash edition of AEW Rampage. Interestingly, they lost to Matt Taven and Mike Bennett of The Kingdom, who he seems to think play a role in The Devil’s plan.
