The next challenger for the TNT Championship has emerged as Killswitch, the former Luchasaurus, earned an ‘anytime, anyplace’ opportunity for the title during AEW Worlds End: Zero Hour. Tonight marked Killswitch’s first appearance on AEW programming in just over a month. Back on the November 25th edition of Collision, Adam Copeland took him out of action with two back-to-back conchairtos to the head.
Killswitch made his surprise return to the company as an entrant in a 20-man battle royale, with the winner receiving a Money In The Bank-esque title shot at the TNT Championship which they can cash in at any time and any place. While he was incapacitated during the early portion of the match due to being ganged up on by most of the other competitors, Killswitch made a comeback and eventually eliminated Trent Baretta to get the win.
It’s currently unclear who exactly Killswitch will challenge for the title down the line as the championship is on the line later tonight at Worlds End. Current champion Christian Cage defends the belt against his long-time friend-turned-enemy Adam Copeland in a No Disqualification match. Cage successfully defended the title against Copeland earlier this month, albeit with the help of Shayna Wayne, the mother of Cage’s Patriarchy stablemate Nick Wayne.
