The masked devils running around AEW again targeted World Champion MJF this past Wednesday night. This time, Friedman was seen backstage, apparently laid out by a glass bottle. Fans did not see the actual attack, just the aftermath, leading many to suspect that Friedman may be the man behind the mysterious faction. Of course, Friedman is not the only name on many pro wrestling fans’ minds regarding who could be behind the big angle.
Adam Cole, who is currently injured, is a name that has frequently come up when talking about who could be leading this masked group of individuals. If Cole is faking his injury, he could lead Friedman on and use some of his former friends from The Kingdom and Undisputed Era to carry out his dirty work. There were also three notable AEW talents, Britt Baker, Jack Perry, and Sammy Guevara, who all recently liked a tweet on X that was critical of Friedman, casting suspicion they may somehow be involved.
In a recent interview with Fightful, Rocky Romero, who is influential backstage at NJPW and AEW, was asked whether or not he is the man behind the attacks.
“I wish I was because he’s about to cash it and make a whole lot of money, he or she,” he joked. “I wish I was, and I wish I knew who it was because I do want to know already, and I was sad that we didn’t find out at Full Gear, so I was like, aw man, I gotta wait longer? No. Hopefully, we’ll find out December 30.”
Romero’s last AEW match occurred on the November 25 episode of Rampage. On it, he unsuccessfully challenged FTW Champion HOOK. Romero is a part of the NJPW stable CHAOS, which also consists of AEW stars The Best Friends, Orange Cassidy, and Kris Statlander. Kazuchika Okada, who will reportedly become a free agent at the end of January, is also a group member.
