It’s been a busy episode of AEW Dynamite, with multiple developments regarding the company’s masked Devil storyline. Minutes after MJF accused “Hangman” Adam Page of being the Devil, Samoa Joe made his way to the ring for his tag match against two of the masked attackers, expecting MJF to join him. However, four of the assailants appeared at ringside to intimidate Joe before the Devil himself appeared on the video screen. As the lights went out and the attackers disappeared again, the camera went backstage to reveal the AEW World Champion knocked unconscious, with the remnants of a shattered glass bottle lying around him.
With how quickly the series of events unfolded, and the fact that it prevented MJF from having to take part in the tag match, there is certainly more suspicion that the AEW champ is the one behind the mask. However, fans who thought the use of glass during the attack on The Acclaimed was a sign that Jack Perry was the Devil will certainly find more evidence in their favor after tonight’s angle.
The momentum of the Devil storyline continues to ramp up, despite the fact that nothing was revealed tonight. It seems things will likely come to a head around the time of MJF’s title defense against Samoa Joe at AEW Worlds End on December 30. That event takes place on Long Island, New York – MJF’s backyard.
