CM Punk surprised fans and insiders alike this past Saturday night when he made his triumphant WWE return at Survivor Series. The dramatic event took place in the final moments of the premium live event, with fans freaking out and screaming for The Second City Savior. Another man who could be seen screaming was Seth “Freaking” Rollins, but not in a visibly positive way. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion could be seen screaming profanities at Punk and had to be held back by Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and others. In the hours since Rollins’ outburst, it has been chalked up to him trying to work an angle based on previous bad blood between the two men.
At last night’s WWE Live Holiday Tour event, following his successful defense against Drew McIntyre and Shinsuke Nakamura, Rollins grabbed a microphone and gave his first public thoughts on Punk’s return.
“I’m not gonna waste any more breath on somebody who’s been gone for eight years and has done nothing but try to tear this place down,” Rollins said. “Instead, I want to take my time, waste my breath, use my breath; I’m talking about the people who’ve been here all along. Everybody in the back whose made WWE the hottest ticket in town! And that’s every single one of you who are here tonight.”
Another Superstar who had fans concerned there was bad blood between him and Punk following Survivor Series was McIntyre. Before Punk’s music even hit, McIntyre could be seen selling damage to his head and quickly shuffling to the back, seemingly to avoid being a part of the big moment. Reports since have indicated McIntyre was not thrilled about Punk’s return, but little is known about why, with indications he may have had more on his mind than just Punk.
Before his main event match against Rollins last night at the Live Holiday Tour show, McIntyre cut a pre-taped promo that aired for the fans in attendance that seemed to allude to his recent actions.
“I’ve been watching the show, and, you know, why didn’t I win the World Title match recently? WarGames last night. My stupid team lost the match for me,” he vented. “You’ve heard things probably on the internet. Not a great place, but there’s one thing that could turn this frown upside down that can change things for me; it’s getting that World title, and I can’t think of any way better than for Big D to find a way to win his first world title in front of live fans than right here in Peoria, Illinois!”
