After suffering a torn pec at AEW Revolution earlier this year, Danhausen was absent from AEW programming for months. Finally, in the lead-up to Halloween, vignettes began to play, teasing the return of the impish entertainer. However, the holiday came and went with no sign of Danhausen, and the AEW star even began showing signs of frustration on social media. The long wait came to an end tonight when Orange Cassidy, making his way to the ring for a match, grabbed a microphone and announced a Thanksgiving surprise: Danhausen’s return.
Danhausen arrived to accompany Cassidy, Hook, and Katsuyori Shibata for their match against Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, and Jake Hager. The match itself was largely uneventful, apart from a spot that saw Danhausen cursing Hager and brandishing his purple hat. Though he doesn’t have a prior relationship with Shibata, Danhausen has been associated in the past with both Cassidy and Hook, and it seems that association is slated to continue. The status of the Best Friends faction isn’t currently clear, with Chuck Taylor having been missing from TV while Trent Baretta has been wrestling singles matches over the last month.
Including appearances on the defunct AEW Dark and AEW Dark Elevation, Danhausen has wrestled 20 matches since his debut last year. The unlikely friendship between Danhausen and Hook, appropriately named Hookhausen, picked up a lot of steam with fans. That storyline was brought to an early end but it seems the two may be working together yet again.
