AEW star Sammy Guevara has been off TV as of late, dealing with an injury suffered at AEW WrestleDream last month. However, according to Guevara’s friend and former AEW star Fuego Del Sol, Guevara isn’t expected to be absent for much longer. Speaking to MuscleManMalcolm, Del Sol shared when fans might be able to see the former TNT Champion back in action.
“He is feeling a lot better,” Del Sol said. “His return is imminent. And I definitely thought he was gonna be on Dynamite recently in that eight-man street fight. However, he wasn’t back yet, but I know he wants to come back in a major way, so we’ll see where the tide takes him.”
Guevara reportedly suffered a concussion at AEW WrestleDream and has not been cleared since. That match saw him teaming up with Konosuke Takeshita and Will Ospreay under the banner of the Don Callis Family, taking on Guevara’s former mentor Chris Jericho as well as Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi. That feud continued in Guevara’s absence, leading up to the street fight mentioned by Del Sol. However, when Guevara does return, it’s undeniable that he and Jericho have unfinished business that must be resolved; it’s simply a matter of when they lock up.
Back in September, various issues led to the dissolution of the Jericho Appreciation Society, and Jericho’s relationship with Guevara soon crumbled as well. The two had been paired up since the very first episode of AEW Dynamite, which saw the Inner Circle form to close out the show. Guevara wrestled Cody Rhodes in the opening match of Dynamite and, although he came up short, his position in the company was solidified by the episode’s end. In the time since, Guevara has held the TNT Championship three times and challenged for the AEW World Championship at AEW Double or Nothing 2023.
