This past Saturday night at AEW Full Gear, The Young Bucks lost their AEW World Tag Team title shot to The Golden Jets, Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega. The two Executive Vice Presidents had previously won a shot at the titles when they were victorious in a Fatal 4-Way match at AEW WrestleDream against Orange Cassidy and HOOK, The Gunns, and The Lucha Brothers. Yesterday, following the loss, fellow Being The Elite castmate Brandon Cutler took to X to give an update.
“I am being told that the Young Bucks will be taking some time away from wrestling,” he said. “People close to Matt and Nick’s camp are asking for privacy during this time.”
Following the update, Fightful reported that The Young Bucks are on the verge of turning heel if they have not already in the eyes of the fans. They also noted plans for other AEW stars to join them in what sounds like a heel stable. Cutler is one of the names “tentatively” planned to continue working with the duo, which is unsurprising considering how he broke the initial news they were taking time off. Furthermore, it sounds like Cutler will continue acting as the mouthpiece for them on-screen and social media moving forward.
Earlier today, Cutler seemed to confirm that portion of the report when he shared another update on The Young Bucks on social media.
“Sources close to Matt and Nick are telling me that they have officially finished up with Being The Elite,” Cutler wrote on X.
Based on Fightful’s report, the changes being made to Being The Elite are all a part of The Jacksons turning heel. While not explicitly noted, since their departure from the program was not yet public, it would seem their exit from BTE is also part of that turn.
