WWE star Bobby Lashley is no stranger to combat sports, having previously competed in MMA along with his pro wrestling career. Despite maintaining a busy WWE schedule, Lashley indicated during a recent conversation with Mail Sport that he is considering a return to the sports side of sports entertainment before it’s too late.
“At some point in time in your career, you gotta stop fighting, but I still have so much fight left in me,” Lashley said. “But time is ticking, too, where I’m gonna say, ‘Alright, get that out of your mind.’ I’ve been offered a bare-knuckles fight against a football player. I talked about a couple boxing matches that I’d be interested in doing. MMA is still [on] the horizon also, but for me to have another fight, I hope – I’m crossing my fingers – I’d like to do some kind of fight.”
Though Lashley seems open to just about anything, the former WWE Champion admitted that he is leaning toward a boxing bout. He would join quite a few well-known figures to make the move into boxing in recent years, such as Logan and Jake Paul, NFL player Le’Veon Bell, and wrestlers John Morrison and Bobby Fish.
“I personally think boxing is the way to go right now,” Lashley continued. “There’s a lot of buzz with boxing. Am I fighting Tyson Fury? I don’t think so. That’s not where I want to go. But I do want to get in that ring and I want to have one of those bigger matchups against someone. I don’t have the time to train for a Tyson Fury, but I train all the time anyway, so I can probably fight somebody that has some boxing experience that still wants to do it, such as myself.”
In recent months, Lashley has begun a partnership with Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins of the Street Profits. Lashley’s last televised match saw him team with the duo at WWE Fastlane against Rey Mysterio, Santos Escobar, and their mystery partner – the returning Carlito.
