WWE Survivor Series is a month away, but fans are already looking past it toward the road to WWE WrestleMania 40, which will officially kick off at the WWE Royal Rumble in January. Last year’s Rumble was won by Cody Rhodes, who went on to lose to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, but many thought we might see a different winner. At the time, fans were on high alert for a possible WWE return of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and there was speculation he may come back at the Rumble to set up a confrontation with his cousin.
This year, things don’t seem to be any different. Last month, Johnson appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and confirmed there were talks for him and Reigns to face off at WrestleMania 39, but quality creative could not be agreed to. With that said, he left the door open for a match at WrestleMania 40, once again stirring the pot in regard to a Rumble return.
Johnson is not the only WWE star that fans would love to see in the main event picture come WrestleMania 40. Rhodes is still teasing a rematch, and he came nose-to-nose with The Tribal Chief on the SmackDown season premiere week. However, he is not alone when it comes to being Reigns’ next possible opponent, as LA Knight has taken the promotion by storm. YEAH! Knight has also shared screen time with The Bloodline in recent weeks, and many fans are already anticipating a collision between the two white-hot stars.
