WWE veteran Randy Orton has been absent from the company for over 16 months after suffering a back injury that would later require fusion surgery. Amid reports that Orton could be preparing for a wrestling return in the near future, another sign has popped up indicating an impending comeback. Several months ago, the band Rev Theory, responsible for Orton’s iconic entrance music, posted an updated version of the song to all major streaming platforms. Now, the band shared the artwork for the single to X along with a fresh tease: “The time is near.”
Orton was reportedly spotted at the WWE Performance Center last month and had possibly been training there for weeks prior to that. Additionally, Orton was said to have started working out as far back as early August in preparation for his return. As far as when that return could take place, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp stated last week that the company was expecting to have the veteran back in action by Survivor Series. That show will take place on November 25 at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
Prior to his injury, Orton was working in a tag team with former UFC competitor Matt Riddle, with the pair known together as RKBro. When Orton eventually comes back from his injury, he won’t be able to jump right into that storyline again, as Riddle was released by the company last month. That leaves the 43-year-old open to plenty of fresh narrative ideas, with Orton’s fellow Evolution member Paul “Triple H” Levesque now fully at the helm of the company’s creative direction.
Haus of Wrestling has partnered with Inside The Ropes to present An Afternoon With Kevin Nash And Sean Waltman on November 25 at Joe’s Live in Rosemont, IL, ten minutes from the All-State Arena. Tickets are now available at JoesLiveRosemont.com.
