MJF World Title Defense Set For AEW Full Gear

Following their face-to-face interaction last week on AEW Dynamite, and the backstage beatdown that followed, “Switchblade” Jay White will challenge Maxwell Jacob Friedman for the AEW World Championship next month at AEW Full Gear. MJF, without the support of Adam Cole, was called out to the ring by White’s Bullet Club Gold allies Juice Robinson, Austin Gunn, and Colten Gunn, with White said to be out after the attack last week. Once out there, White made a surprise appearance, attacking MJF and accusing him of being behind the masked assault last week before laying out a world title challenge. The AEW World Champion denied the accusation but accepted White’s challenge for Full Gear.

Later on in the show, MJF was shown backstage with Renee Paquette. After a short encounter with Max Caster of The Acclaimed, MJF called Cole in search of moral support but only reached his voicemail. Though Friedman has become something of a hero on AEW programming in recent months, he has yet to develop any allies outside of Cole, leaving him well-outnumbered against Bullet Club Gold. With Cole out of action for the immediate future, the world champion may have to look elsewhere for backup.

Tonight’s announcement makes MJF vs. “Switchblade” the first match made official for Full Gear. The pay-per-view will take place on Saturday, November 18 in Inglewood, California, at the Kia Forum just outside Los Angeles. While it hasn’t been announced yet, the Young Bucks recently won a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championship, currently held by FTR. Matt and Nick Jackson hail from southern California, making Full Gear a prime opportunity for a rematch between the two teams.

Haus of Wrestling has partnered with Inside The Ropes to present An Afternoon With Kevin Nash And Sean Waltman on November 25 at Joe’s Live in Rosemont, IL, ten minutes from the All-State Arena. Tickets are now available at JoesLiveRosemont.com.
