Malakai Black Trains With WWE Star Ahead Of AEW Return

Malakai Black has not competed since The House of Black lost the AEW World Trios Championship to Billy Gunn and The Acclaimed at AEW All In: London in August. Last week, Black disputed rumors that he was suffering from a back injury and that this was potentially the reason why he has been out of action recently, as well as not having competed in a singles match in well over a year. However, he did confirm that he is currently suffering from a minor injury in the form of a calf tear and knee hyperextension, both of which he has almost recovered from.

Now, the AEW star has given fans a direct look at how close he is to an in-ring return in a new video posted to social media. Black’s wife, WWE star Zelina Vega, posted a video to her X account of the two training in the ring where the two trade several armdrag variations on each other. Vega accompanied the video with the caption, “I have the best on my side. My time is coming. #BelieveIt @WWE.”

This is not the first time Black has taken an extended absence from AEW in recent times. The House of Black leader disappeared from TV programming after the group lost to Miro, Darby Allin and Sting at AEW All Out 2022 and even requested his release from the promotion due to setbacks in his personal life. Thankfully, however, Black remained with AEW and returned to the promotion just over three months after All Out at AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming.

Following the return of Black, The House of Black went on to become undefeated in tag team and trios matches for almost nine months and dethroned The Elite’s Kenny Omega, Nick Jackson and Matt Jackson of the AEW World Trios Championship in the process. Black, Buddy Matthews and Brody King went on to defend the belts over the likes of CM Punk and FTR, The Jericho Appreciation Society and Best Friends.
