After more than a month away, Karl Anderson returned on tonight’s WWE SmackDown, confronting the members of The Bloodline who were present and facing off against Jimmy Uso in a match. Anderson interrupted Jimmy Uso after he invoked the name of AJ Styles, whom the group beat down on last week’s show. In order to explain Styles’ absence tonight, Anderson claimed that last week’s attack put Styles in the hospital, where he remains.
After accusing the group of making things personal by attacking Styles, Anderson challenged any member of The Bloodline to a match. Solo Sikoa then stated to Uso that he needed to prove himself, coercing his older brother into the match. After a commercial break, Uso was able to make quick work of Anderson, but the segment came to a close with Anderson’s ally in The OC, Mia Yim, delivering a painful slap to Uso’s face.
Luke Gallows of The OC has been off TV due to an injury dating back to last month, which seems to be the primary explanation for Anderson’s absence as well. While it’s not clear exactly when Gallows will return, it was indicated that he’ll be ready to return sometime in October. Wherever this story is headed, it seems likely the full reunion of The OC will take place along the way.
