Reports emerged last week that WWE was set to host a tryout at the Performance Center with several independent stars from across the United States. Most notable among them were former MLW Tag Team Champion Richard Holliday, former NWA World Women’s Tag Team Champion Madi Wrenkowski, and Hollyhood Haley J – one of the stars of Netflix’s recently released OVW-centric documentary ‘The Wrestlers’.
Unfortunately for Haley J, it has since been reported that she did not end up taking part in the tryout as originally planned. Fightful Select reports that per sources from WWE and OVW, J was ultimately pulled from taking part in the tryout due to medical paperwork reasons. However, WWE is said to be hopeful that she can appear in another tryout in the future.
Haley J is currently in her third reign as OVW Women’s Champion after winning the belt back in May from Shalonce Royal. J also had a starring role in Netflix’s ‘The Wrestlers’ which chronicles the current state of OVW, the challenges both wrestlers and promoters facing in a smaller promotion and the journey of some of OVW’s stars as they attempt to take their careers to the next level.
The full reported list of stars who took part in last week’s WWE Performance Center tryout are Copeland Barbee, David Goldy, Jay Malachi, Richard Holliday, Brogan Finlay, Jamie Stanley, Ray Jaz, Damaris Largo, Hollyhood Haley J, Kelsey Heather, Valentina Rossi, J-Rod and Madi Wrenkowski.
Aside from the aforementioned Holliday, Wrenkowski and Haley J, Brogan Finlay is another notable name who was said to have taken part. Alongside his own accomplishments in the likes of GCW, Black Label Pro and NJPW Strong, Finlay is noteworthy in being the son of the legendary Fit Finlay as well as the brother of New Japan Pro-Wrestling star and current Bullet Club leader David Finlay.
