Two weeks ago on WWE Friday Night Smackdown, LA Knight had the whole world talking when he seemingly clapped back at criticism from Hall of Famer Kevin Nash.
“If I was a complete moron, I’d say ‘let’s look at that adjective,'” he proclaimed. “But I’m not a moron, so I’ll say let’s look at that verb!”
The line was a shot at Nash’s infamous 1996 promo on Eric Bischoff as he was joining the NWO and botched the grammatical label for the word “play.” Over the last several weeks, the former Diesel has publicly taken shots at the leader of WWE’s YEAH! Movement, mainly targeting how closely his presentation seems to resemble that of Attitude Era stars like The Rock and Steve Austin. On the latest episode of his Kliq This podcast, Nash reacted to Knight’s slight from Smackdown.
“So it looked like I took the high road, and then he, for some reason, he brought up something that, and I understand why he did it because he doesn’t f-cking know. He doesn’t know. I mean, the guy, it took him 29 years to get over. So, he’s gonna make mistakes along the way because it wasn’t like he had any kind of clear-cut pattern or plans to make it.
“Besides, he figured he’d just, The Rock and Steve have been gone long enough that he’d just do their sh-t. I see where he is up for a new contract. So, I call Triple H. Now, I’m like, ‘Paul, I said, what’s the deal with this? You know, because early it said that negotiations are going great, and all of a sudden, it seemed like there was a hitch.”
“And Paul told me he goes, he says, “I didn’t understand why this kid,’ Cuz you know, and he says, ‘I use that term lightly.’ I said, ‘What do you mean?’ He goes, ‘Kid.’ He goes, ‘Yeah, the guy’s my age.’ I said, ‘I don’t think he’s quite your age.’ He says, ‘He’s pretty damn close.’ And I said, ‘Are you more worried about the fact that his fan appeal will recede as fast as his hairline is? Like, is that something you’re worried about?’
“You know, I mean, because it’s bad enough for me that, like I said unless you’re just a knob gobbler, there’s no way you would pick those sunglasses as a pair of sunglasses that you would wear. So, that being said, and then Paul said, ‘We’re so far apart because the only way I’ll say this guy’s on a nostalgia act.’ I said, ‘You mean like me? Like he’d be on the Legends?’ He goes, ‘Yeah, he’s doing their sh-t! I can’t give him the same pay as guys that are going out there and doing original sh-t.’ It’s like, f-cking, he’s a Shecky Green, it’s like, f-ck, come on, this guy isn’t doing anything.”
